European Influence With Contemporary Accents

This home, built in the Victorian style, got a complete makeover, taking it from bland to beautiful. The color palette of deep blue, soft gray and off-white creates an atmosphere that is both calm and comfortable. Hardwood floors were stripped and stained gray which cooled the abundance of warm tones that were there previously. Walls and living room ceilings were painted a chalky white while the kitchen and dining room ceilings were coated in a rich navy blue, emphasizing the beautiful moldings and 11-foot ceiling height. The spectacular outdoor gardens were brought indoors with the custom painted floral mural in the breakfast area which also serves to provide a romantic cove for late-night cocktails or dinner for two.

The living room is open to the bay window which was transformed into a charming nook for breakfast, cocktails or dinner for two. The blue and white palette continues throughout with the addition of lavender accents in the hand painted mural.

The kitchen was given a dramatic facelift by painting the ceilings a deep navy blue, reflecting the blue and white palette without the area. New contemporary light fixtures keep the atmosphere light and clean. Bland taupe walls were painted chalky white and metal bar stools add a French accent.

The dining room ceiling is painted deep blue, reflecting the blue velvet seat cushions on the dining chairs. A gorgeous crystal chandelier is the focal point throwing beautiful light for evening dinner parties. Blue and white pottery adds a charming accent. Potted palm trees create a seamless transition from indoors to out.

The transformation began by sanding the existing hardwood floors and staining them gray, cooling down the atmosphere and proving contrast with the warm tones of the tile. Traditional blue velvet chairs and leather chesterfield style sofa are offset by clean, contemporary coffee and end tables. Crystal lamps provide a classic touch without stealing the spotlight. The original oil painting over the fireplace serves as a dramatic focal point.

The dining room and kitchen are visible from the living room and the blue and white color palette is carried throughout.

This bay window area serves as the perfect romantic nook for breakfast or cocktails. The ceiling fan was replaced with a charming crystal chandelier, perfectly proportioned for the table. The custom mural was hand-painted for the space which brings the garden indoors and also provides a warm, cozy atmosphere at night when the plantation shutters are closed.

This tiny powder room was given the royal treatment with deep blue walls and a dramatic gold mirror that spans the entire wall behind the vanity.

Deep aubergine walls set the tone for plenty of drama in this romantic master bedroom. The bed, from Ethan Allen, is in a shimmering warm pewter finish with a leather upholstered footboard and fabric headboard. The metallic ceiling provides a warm glow, illuminated by the charcoal crystal chandelier from RH.

Antiqued mirrored nightstands add to the glamour and the softly ruffled French linens bring a feminine touch. Silk draperies lend to the luminosity of the space.

The adjoining niche is ideal for a writing desk and bar cart.

The leather-topped French writing desk is vintage, as is the Italian wedding chair.

A pair of generously proportioned bergere chairs from Ethan Allen provide a super comfortable seating area for morning coffee and correspondence or late-night scotch and conversation.

A simple monochromatic color scheme gives this guest bedroom a wonderfully elegant charm.
