Artsy Boho in Smithville

This circa 1930 house, in the town of Smithville, Texas, was purchased as a retirement home.  Although it featured high ceilings, plenty of windows and original hardwood floors, it was in much need of TLC and badly needed to be brought up to date.  The homeowner’s wonderfully eclectic collection of original art served as the inspiration for the design concept that I termed “Contemporary Bohemian with an Ethnic Flair”.  Heavy drapes were pulled from every room, floors were sanded and refinished, bathrooms were demolished and rebuilt and the fireplace was given an update with gorgeous handmade tile on the surround.  The color palette of teal, aqua, persimmon and sage was applied by alternating rooms saturated with deep hues, such as the foyer and dining room, with rooms painted warm white in order to showcase brilliant layers of upholstery and colorful art.
